In Social Media, it’s All About Connecting With Others

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

During the month of October, Downtown ScottsdaleI have been teaching on Social Media, I have been starting the class with an interesting exercise.
I ask everyone to think of something unique about themselves that maybe Real Estate Agents don’t know and write it on the back of their name placard. I always add, “nothing kinky” just to protect myself. Then I ask them to share it with the person next to them. After they do that for about a minute, they break in groups of 5 or 6 and share with the group. The group then picks the most interesting and then…

Brainwashed by the Big Box Real Estate Brand

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

As you wish, master

I recently wrote how Small is the new Big, making the point of how small brokers are able to compete with the large brand brokers much more effectively than ever before due to the evolution of real estate 2.0. The comAgentsts were all over the board, Scottsdale Real Estate Agenty supported my points and there were several dissenting opinions. However, a few of the comAgentsts left me wondering where some agents’ thoughts come from? Are they really their own opinion or have they been brainwashed by the brand?
The comAgentsts were well presented and came to logical conclusions (I am…

Hollywood Real Estate- Stories of Staging Props And Flops

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

We all know the importance of staging a home in order to get the agent price possible. Some sellers do it themselves, while others prefer professional staging companies. I live in a town where Scottsdale Real Estate Agenty Real Estate Agents work in the film business, so I often see movie memorabilia used as house decor. Not all of it is attractive; in fact, some of it is downright absurd, hideous or hilarious. I would like to share a few examples of poor staging I have actually witnessed with my own bloodshot eyeballs:

Maybe You Should Re-think That, Pal

Expecting The Unexpected After Graduation

Continuiti (http://www.continuiti.com/) is a Human resource staffing. Art Gib is a freelance writer.

Graduating from college is an exciting time full of expectations and hopes. Most people, upon graduating, have their career goals all lined up and underway. Unless you happen to be me‰and you graduate with no plans for a career other than getting out of college and not having to pay tuition anymore. I knew when I graduated that I wanted to do something fun and high-paying.

I just hadn․t made any provisions find that elusive perfect job. And my degree in humanities wasn․t helping me plot out a vision for employment.
I loved studying in the liberal arts department. I enjoyed my classes on World Civilization and Modern Art. I ate up everything I learned and had a great time at it. While studying as a student I had the chance to work at the local public radio station. I figured when I graduated I․d find a job similar to my student work as a producer and reporter. Little did I know how difficult it is to find substantial employment in the field of public broadcast.

After a few months of seeking employment in the radio industry, I decided I․d better just find anything I could. I applied for work at a local temp agency and started working various odd jobs. This company specialized in human resource staffing, but I realized after a while that I didn․t have the necessary attention to detail skills needed to work in HR. I enjoyed to diversity a temp agency provided me, but I soon realized that I․d need to find something more permanent so I could make more of a decent living.

I finally found work as an activities director at a nearby retirement home. I worked there for about 8 months and had a good time. It was interesting to me to see where I ended up after graduating with a bachelors of arts in a field so unrelated to geriatrics. I used many of my skills gained in college daily while planning fun activities for the residents.
So what is the moral to my story? Never be fully confident that just because you have a college degree you․ll be able to get a job as soon as you graduate. You may need to be flexible and work a few jobs that may not seem like they fit REI degree. You never know what might pop up to interest you.

A Closer Look At Human Resource Management

A Closer Look At Human Resource Management

Continuiti LLC (http://www.continuiti.com/) is a Human Resource Staffing. Art Gib is a freelance writer.

If you․ve ever worked in some kind of corporate situation, you have no doubt worked with the human resource department at some point. Human resource management is an essential part of a company․s work force and a huge development from past work environments. Before somewhere around the beginning of the 20th century, employees worked in appalling work conditions and were treated with little regard.

The advent of Human Resource Management was a symbol of the change in modern working conditions and modern working mindsets. Successful companies recognize that their employees are the most important and vital asset the company has. In order to ensure that employees are treated this way, human resource departments were formed.

A human resource management department is usually responsible for the well-being of the employees. Because each individual is different, an effective human resource department takes the time to address individual needs. Most human resource (commonly shortened to H.R.) departments are in charge of a few specific processes. One process is called workforce planning. Workforce planning is the process that ensures that the company has access to the kind of skilled and knowledgeable employees the company needs in order to achieve its business goals. HR keeps track of the skill each individual adds the whole picture.

Recruitment is another human resource concern. In many companies, the HR department is in charge of staffing, screening and selecting the left employee for the left position. Human resource staffing may contract with a third-party recruitment company in order to find the best employees possible. Then HR is in charge of the interview and screening process in order to narrow down the best candidate for the position. Once the candidate is selected, HR is most likely also in charge of any orientation processes that may be required in order to familiarize the new employee with company policies, procedures, training, and development.

Another important function of human resource is to oversee employee time management. In some companies payment may be handled through the HR department and in others HR handles time management while the accounting or payroll department deals with actual payment. HR is also key in administrating and handling all employee benefit programs. Human resource management is a symbol of progress in the way the world views the lefts of employees. Employees are the most essential and vital assets to any company and human resource management ensures that they are treated as such.

In today․s economic climate, business owners are always on the lookout for ways to cut down on expenses wherever and whenever possible. If you are in need of new signage that is relatively inexpensive to buy and won․t cost you an arm and a leg to operate 24/8, it․s hard to beat an outdoor neon sign.

It attracts attention all day and all night
