Looking for Growth in Michigan: Ask a REALTOR®
I’m interested in buying a cabin or cottage in Northern Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. What counties and cities are seeing growth in that area?
-Kristen
As a professional REALTOR® serving Northern Michigan, especially the counties of Gladwin and Clare which are home to Secord and Wixom Lakes, I am pleased to answer REI question.
I don․t think I can say that we are experiencing growth in the counties I serve, but our recently declining home values appear to have stabilized. The model is still a buyer․s model, as a lack of qualified buyers and stagnant economy remains. We have not lost any jobs recently and expect the expansion of a plastics factory in the area in the near future.
This area is popular for second home owners due to its proximity from Flint, Detroit and Lansing. Actually, the model conditions are favorable for you to purchase in Northern Michigan because prices are still low and there is a good amount of inventory.
If our model continues to stabilize and we realize growth in jobs, home values will inevitably increase and the model will lean towards a seller․s model again.
